How much do structured settlement brokers charge?

A structured settlement broker is paid by a commission through the annuity company. Under certain circumstances they might advertise their service as free to you, but it should be know that their broker fee is accounted for somehow within the offer.

Typically, the money is not coming directly out of your pocket, as it is figured in the discount rate of your settlement. The discount rate is the amount that will be subtracted from your lump sum to compensate for any fees, legal costs, time money loss, and risk taken on by the buyer.

In general, it is a good idea to shop around for quotes, so that you will have a good idea at the range of rates you might be charged. It is important to note that low cost does not always mean low quality. However, it is also not true that high fees do not mean you will receive impeccable service.
